My Father’s World Adventures in U.S. History Timeline

    jawnisears@gmail.com August 11, 2025

How I put together our timeline for our second grade year using My Father’s World Adventures in U.S. History I get a very small commission from links in this post. Not sure how we are here already, but my oldest is starting second grade this year, which means we have been homeschooling for three years already. I have always leaned more towards a Charlotte Mason homeschooling style, but have never…

    What is Tallow?

    jawnisears@gmail.com April 7, 2025

There has been a lot of recent talk about the benefits of tallow. Maybe you have heard it’s great for cooking french fries, but what about for your skin? Tallow is rendered beef suet (fat).  This fat is usually taken from the kidney area of…

How to remedy melted Whipped Tallow

    jawnisears@gmail.com May 26, 2023

Did your Tallow Whip arrive melted during shipping, or did you leave it in your car on accident?  It doesn’t take much for tallow to melt.  In fact, it’s its low melting point that makes it so luxurious when applying to your skin.  You tallow…

    April 17, 2023

If you spend any amount of time outside, it isn’t a matter of if you find an attached tick, but when.  Being prepared, having the right supplies on hand, and knowing how to quickly and calmy handle the situation can be the difference between just…

    What is Tallow anyway?

    February 16, 2023

Tallow is rendered beef suet (fat).  This fat is usually taken from the kidney area of the cow.  You start with the raw form of fat (suet), it is then cooked down slowly until you are left with a pure form of rendered fat that…

I'm a wife, homeschooling mom of three and semi-retired hairstylist/salon owner. God has used my health journey to show my a simpler and healthier way to live. Through that Wildly Rooted Co. was created; a shop that sells small-batch Tallow and Herbal preparations and as a placeholder to share what I'm learning along the way. Glad you're here!

How can your heart reconcile two extremes of heavi How can your heart reconcile two extremes of heaviness at the same time? How can you feel the heaviness of the utter loss and crisis Jamaicans are experiencing at this very moment while also allowing yourself to feel the heavy worry and fear that comes with living in mold. How can I even worry and wonder if throwing away my down feather blanket is the reason my 2 year old finally slept through the night. My crisis is so small in comparison to so many in the world. That has been my perspective these entire last few months, but dang it still hurts. Finding space for both truths to lie is difficult. Thank you God for your faithfulness no matter where we are in life.
We discovered a couple weeks ago that we have been We discovered a couple weeks ago that we have been living in neuro-toxic mold for the entire 10 years we have lived in our home. I want to share more some day and educate others but I honestly just don't have the capacity right now. Strangers, family, friends and our church has blessed us so much these last couple weeks. Their support and constant leaning on God has been the only thing keeping me above water.
I used to be a MAXIMALIST. Some would say pack ra I used to be a MAXIMALIST. Some would say pack rat. I would say sentimental. I kept everything. Over the years I've experienced watching people's lives they've carefully collected and curated be tossed for various reasons. The more it happened the more I realized, you can purge some sentimental things and you're going to be okay. Your memories won't be lost, your love won't disappear, and it will only make the special things you keep more special. You cherish it more or spend more time enjoying it. As a homeschool mom and someone with ADHD we collect lots of papers and it's very overwhelming for me. Making lots of decisions on what to do with things exhausts me. So what I do now is through the year I stash all the projects and papers that are special at the time in a basket, and ruthlessly trash the junk. At the end of the school year I sort and keep my favorites or the kids favorites. With time, the once really special doodle isn't so special anymore and easy to toss. My kids even realize this. I've decided on a size of tote that I think is a reasonable size and am organizing their papers by school year. I also have a fabric tote that they keep in their closet full of special items like ribbons, derby cars, photos etc. These things easily clutter a room and can be overwhelming for children and they don't realize it. My kids love opening their curated box of treasures. I decided I'm going to get some more hanging folders for their school box and store cards, certificates etc by year. And I just happen to have an extra tote, so I'm going to make a mother's bin, and save special things my children have given me and organize by year. I think that will be special to go through when I'm older and remember was 2018 looked liked as a mother. Lord willing we keep these forever and can pass them down, but if not- that will be okay. Our treasures are stored in heaven.
